Message From the Director
I would like to personally welcome you to our new website!
We hope this site allows you to find an abundance of information about the Michigan State Capitol.
As caretakers of the building, it is our goal to Preserve the Past and Inspire the Future.
Through traditional techniques, we work to preserve the ornate designs and historical architectural elements in the building - to keep it looking as fresh and beautiful as it did when we first opened the building in 1879.
The use of modern technologies allows us to inspire the future. We pay homage to the past while documenting all work being done to the building and grounds by using different forms of data collection and integration into BIM models, environmental monitoring, photography and film, building sensors, in depth archival storage and cataloguing.
These tools, along with our staff’s passion, help illustrate the commitment we have in being the best stewards to your beautiful Michigan State Capitol.
Sincerely,
Rob Blackshaw
Michigan State Capitol Commission, Executive Director
